Matt Wilson is a Hobart based improviser, actor, and director. He is currently the co-artistic director of PROTEA Impro. With Rowan Harris he created the Our Place improvised theatre format which he has performed at the Auckland Improv Festival, Brisbane Improv Festival, and Canberra International Improv Festival. He has performed in many improvised theatre pieces at home, interstate and internationally. He has taught sold out workshops in various aspects of improvised theatre in Hobart, Canberra, and Brisbane.
As a theatre director he helmed the Tasmanian premieres of Sweeney Todd and Trainspotting amongst others. His production of I’m A Stranger Here Myself was performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
As actor he has performed in countless shows over a 30 year period, including work for Terrapin Puppet Theatre, Tasmanian Theatre Company, and touring nationally with Round Earth.
On screen he can be seen in Van Diemans Land, and the film clip to A. Swayze and the Ghosts video Mess of Me.
